Jan 2002 - VOD has become some sort of grunge / alternative band and are no more.

VOD - For The Bleeders 1999VOD - Vision Of Disorder - For The Bleeders CD 1999: Folks, this one's gettin a review from me. VOD's last album was, in my opinion, so bad that I didnt even waste my money on it. I didnt even download the sound files off the internet. I didnt even go to their shows when they toured. I heard enough on the local radio. With this new CD, they're sure to get mixed comments. They redid their old demo songs which are, by far, among the greatest songs ever written. Some will say they're trying to cash in on the hardcore scene by using their old material that made them great while others will appreciate the chance to hear how great VOD once was. My personal opinion of this CD is that it's just fucking amazing. VOD steps up and shows us all how good they are. The CD gave me chills. Even the old 7/13 demo song is on here kids! There's a few new songs which aren't too bad, but the old material is pure genius. It took me a while to get used to the new vocal style because I was so used to the older demos, but I did. I applaud VOD for stepping up and shutting everyone up. VOD is again on the top of my list for greatest Hardcore bands. The GREATEST HITS on this CD are: Choke, Watch Out, 7/13, No Regret, Formula For Failure, Take Them Out, Beneath The Green. The news songs: Adelaide, For The Bleeders, In The Room. I was a little upset with No regret...they took out the back up vocals on the "NO REGRET" part, but it's still a great song. Anyway, get this friggin CD even if you have the old demos cause it's amazing. The drums alone are enough to prove that VOD aint no joke. I give this one 5 out of 5 fists as a review. Props to the band.

VOD 7" From 98. Resurrecting Reality
VOD
- Vision Of Disorder - Resurrecting Reality 7" 1998. Unfortunately, I dont have a record player so I havent yet heard the songs on the 7". But, I have heard alot of good reviews from people saying that VOD has returned to their wild stlye sound. The 7" has Clone, Soul Craft, Element (demo version), and Ways To Destroy One's Ambitions (demo version). I do have the old demo versions of the 2 songs on here and I remember that they were much better than the album recording. I'll have my personal review here as soon as I get this on tape.

Here it is kids, the 1st Vision Of Disorder album. With this new album marks the passing of all the older VOD demos into the history books of Hardcore. The new album features 12 sick ass songs from Long Islands craziest Hardcore band. Element, Watering Disease, Through my Eyes, Viola, Liberation, Divide, Ways to Destroy One's Ambition, Suffer, Zone Zero, D.T.O, Excess and Gloom. The band is currently touring with Madball and Earth Crisis.

The latest release from the band is a big change from their older material. Personally, the older demo, 7" and SFT CD stuff was alot more Hardcore than what is on the album. Don't get me wrong, the new material is good, but the older stuff is better. The new material seems to focus alot more on "open" guitar chords that ring out and vocals that follow a similar pattern. There's not as much "chugga chugga as there used to be". The older material from the band had alot of abrupt, heavy sounding, guitar riffs and the vocals seemed to have alot more aggression behind them. Songs like 'NO REGRET', '7/13', 'You Will Fall' and 'Rhythm of the AK' are long dead now, as is 'Divide' from the new album.

The band seems to be moving forward and leaving everything behind it. Older songs are not played as much but I recently heard that the band has started to play them at shows again.

Some people in the Hardcore scene say that the band has already "sold out" and lost it's soul. I say, let's wait til the next release. The band was always know for it's original sound and unusual interpretation of life through music. Perhaps this new release is just a transition into an even crazier style of V.O.D.

7There aint much I can tell you about VOD that you don't already know. They started out "officially" in 1991 and have risen to be one of  New Yorks biggest hardcore bands. From the days of high school "Battle of the Bands", to the Right Track Inn on Long Island, to the Wetlands and then some, VOD's commin straight for your face. They had a few demos out over the years but none are available anymore. They currently have a 7" called "STILL" on SFT records, are featiured on the NY HARDEST CD COMP, and have 2 CD's which will be out this winter. Vision Of Disorder is absolutely devestating to see in concert and their music alone will make you move. Working with 2 guitars, madd ass riffs, sick bass lines, boomin drums and a vocal style that only VOD can bring you, VOD is the band to see. The band is on the Road Runner web site, the NYHC Documentary web site, and the VOD site which is linked on the NYHC page. For more info, you can see those sites.
