Unless you live in a bomb shelter surrounded by canned beans, there’s no way you don’t remember the now prolific punch seemingly heard around the world, that occurred in summer 2004 when North Side Kings front man Danny Marianino met international man of metallic megalomania Glen Danzig back stage at a concert in Tuba City, Arizona. The events of that night certainly turned into one of the most talked about events in recent memory and became one of the most watched clips in YouTube history, but the story certainly didn’t end there.
Don’t Ever Punch a Rockstar: A Collection of Hate Mail and Other Crazy Rumors, documents Danny Marianino's days as a metal head from childhood into adulthood, details his life playing in a few notable hardcore/punk bands, touring, fighting, drinking, internet bullying, celebrity encounters, satanic curses, house fires, harassment, and an immeasurable collection of hate mail from some of the most illiterate human beings the world has to offer.
Don’t Ever Punch a Rockstar is if anything a good lesson in accepting the negative with a laugh, and gaining a new sense of temperance and humility. It’s an entertainingly light hearted and campy memoir that’s much more than just the eye-opening account of the chaos that followed the infamous event that VH1 called one of the Most Shocking Moments in Rock and Roll history.
This is by no means the same old autobiography that you have read before. Don't Ever Punch a Rockstar combines elements of Get in The Van, Emails from and Asshole and Shit My Dad Says all in one hot mess of a story.
